Add properties before you invent another event

Most “new” events are old actions with a different adjective. Enrichment beats vocabulary sprawl.

Application analytics decays when every feature ships a near-duplicate verb. Prefer a stable object–action pair, then attach properties for plan, surface, and experiment.

Marketing adjectives inside event names age poorly. “DelightfulUpgradeDone” will haunt your warehouse; “upgrade_completed” with structured properties stays readable after a rebrand.

Keep the dictionary where engineers already look—repo docs or a shared sheet with owners—not only in a slide from last quarter.

In signal map reviews from our Busan desk we often collapse twenty near-duplicates before anyone asks for a new dashboard.
